Biography

   Dr. Mahdi Mashkour is an associate professor of functional renewable nanomaterials at the Department of Wood Engineering and Technology (WE&T), Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (GUASNR), Gorgan, Iran. He was the head of WE&T from 2013 to 2020 and dean of the Faculty of Wood and Paper Engineering since 2021. 

   Mahdi earned his MSc in 2007 and Ph.D. in 2011 under Dr. Mehdi Tajvidi and Prof. Ghanbar Ebrahimi, Department of Wood and Paper Science and Technology, University of Tehran. As a visiting researcher, Mahdi joined the Division of Forest and Biomaterials Science, Kyoto University, in 2010 and worked under Prof. Tsunehisa Kimura on the magnetic alignment of cellulose fibers and crystals at the micro- and nanoscale. His Ph.D. thesis focused on anisotropic superparamagnetic cellulose nanocomposites based on all-cellulose composites. 

    He began his career in 2012 as an assistant professor of functional renewable nanomaterials at WE&T before being promoted to associate professor in 2019. To date, he has supervised over thirty master’s and doctoral students. In September 2021, Mahdi established the Biomass and Green Electronics Laboratory (BioGEL) at WE&T, focusing on researching and developing biomass-derived materials for sustainable electronics.
